Up the Danube, Aug 98
Member Chris Dunn has been busy taking his Pahi 63 "Moana Pahi" upstream to the Rhine, on his way back to the UK. Member Steve Yates has been skippering (I had to decline due to my wife Liz's illness), to be replaced for the later part by Bob Beggs (Tiki 26 Atlantic 1992). Chris did the first crucial week but was dragged home by business commitments, Gerald Winkler (PCA Austrian rep) joined for a couple of days and sent back these pictures. There is a temporary centre steering console, rather altered bow & stern sections (Steve Turner re-design), custom tiller/tiller bar set-up & lots of other interesting things on this amazing Pahi ..... look out in future magazines. Note the centre windlass in pic one, with hawse pipes through the forward "pods". Self launch/recovery anchors were specified to allow safe, fast central handling. Scott Brown
